Quality in Tourism recently carried out a Safe, Clean & LegalTM assessment at Wanderlust Campervan Co. The company was established by husband and wife team Annah & Andy following their passion for campervan adventures across the UK and Europe. As their family grew, they realised that they had limited options for spacious, family-friendly homes-on-wheels, so they created their own!
Their fleet of three glamping style campers, Sally, Lula and Amelia all have different personalities and layouts. Everything has been thought of so that relaxing and making memories is all that is required!
Our assessor checked their processes and made some helpful suggestions including updating the website to clarify their position on insurance and breakdown and adding the inventory on the website too.
Speaking of the experience Annah says “The process that we went through with Quality in Tourism helped us to look again at our systems and applying a fresh pair of eyes to identify any potential areas for improvement. We found working with the team really easy and helpful and are delighted with our Safe, Clean & LegalTM marquee as well as a Unique accolade for operating something a little out of the ordinary!”

A local company is in the running to be named one of the best rural businesses in the UK after being shortlisted for a regional Rural Business Award.
Wanderlust Camper Co from Gloucestershire, in the Forest of Dean has been shortlisted in the Best Rural Tourism Business at the 2019/20 Rural Business Awards, held in partnership with Amazon. The local company will battle it out against fellow rural businesses, entrepreneurs and enterprises from across the region for a place at the national final.
Wanderlust Camper Co was founded just over 2 years ago, in May 2017 by Annah and Andrew Todman, providing affordable campervan hire to families, friends and couples for camping trips, roadtrips and festivals. Their campervans have been described as Cath Kidston on wheels due to their unique, glamping style décor. Each campervan is handcrafted and uniquely styled with the exterior finished in a vintage Porsche duck egg blue. The campervans offer fun and flexible accommodation for at least 4 guests.
The Rural Business Awards 2019/20, in partnership with Amazon, will mark the Awards’ fifth year of celebrating the success of businesses across the UK’s rural economy – a segment which employs in excess of 3.4 million people in over 750,000 businesses in England alone. The Awards are organised by rural business for rural business with the aim of celebrating the achievements of rural businesses and developing a strong network for rural business owners.
Speaking after being shortlisted for an award, Annah Todman from Wanderlust Camper Co said:
We are thrilled to be shortlisted as a finalist for the Best Rural Tourism Business category and looking forward to the regional finals in October. As a rural business is the heart of the countryside, the essence of our offering is here, where we are based – making campervanning in the countryside easy, accessible and fun.
Director and Co-Founder of The Rural Business Awards, Anna Price, said: “The 2019/20 Awards have seen record numbers of entries and it’s encouraging to see so many rural businesses express a desire to celebrate their successes on a regional and national scale. We are passionate about creating a nurturing environment where rural businesses can develop, and this starts by showcasing the great work they do. On behalf of everyone at the Rural Business Awards, we want to say well done to Wanderlust Camper Co, and all the shortlisted businesses, and wish them luck ahead of the regional finals.”
The Rural Business Awards is the brainchild of Leicestershire businesswomen Anna Price and Jemma Clifford, who wanted to showcase the wealth of entrepreneurial talent in rural areas of Britain.
The Awards are organised by rural business for rural business, with winners in the 12 categories - ranging from Best Rural Start-up and Best Rural Diversification Project; through to Best Rural Professional Services Business and Rural Digital, Communications or Media Business - decided by an independent panel of judges drawn from the rural business sector, rural public sector agencies, and rural charitable organisations.
The Rural Business Awards is hosting a series of regional finals in the North, East, Midlands, South East, South West, Wales and Northern Ireland, throughout October and November 2019, ahead of the National Final next February.
